Do I need an explosion proof reactor?
Goldleaf Explosion proof glass reactors are designed to be used in hazardous environments where solvents or flammable material may be present. If you use ethanol, acetone, pentane, heptane or any flammable material you will need an explosion proof reactor unless you have it under a fume hood. The design and construction of electronics uses all UL rated and marked parts for use in C1D2 environments. Our reactors exceed the standards set by PSI and other peer review agencies. We care about your safety and do not cut corners. Picture is outdated and does not show approved electronics. The C1D2 rating is appropriate for glass reactors since operation will meet the definition of a C1D2 environment "volatile flammable liquids or gases are used but are normally confined in closed containers or closed systems and only escape in the event of an accident or breakdown"
Convenient Electric Motor and Controller
Our explosion proof reactors use a brushless geared DC electric motor. Brushless motors are maintenance free and have more torque at low rpm and together with gearing the motor is very powerful and can be used with thick and viscous materials even at low speeds. The DC motor is also safer and can be powered with a battery as a backup. The speed control is directly mounted to the motor and is very convenient and easy to use.
Glass Body Selection
The single jacket (two layers of glass walls) allows connection to a recirculating heater/chiller for precise temperature control. The double jacket (three layers of glass) takes it a step further and the outside jacket is vacuum insulated which creates an easily visible interior (no ice formation or fog) where materials are reacted, yet can withstand extreme temperatures from -100C to 250°C
